DOVE VALLEY

Dove Valley is an affordable senior housing project in Milliken, Colorado. TAC is installing an 50 kW photovoltaic solar array distributed on multiple rooftops in the Dove Valley complex that will provide up to 70% of the electricity consumed by the residents and will save the Milliken Housing Authority more than $8,825 per year on utility bills over the next 20+ years!

These economic benefits to the Housing Authority are coupled with the environmental benefit of reducing carbon emissions by approximately 74 metric tons per year, or nearly 1,500 tons over the 20 year contract period. In addition, public perception of the environmental benefits of the project will provide significant public relations benefits to the Housing Authority and to the community of Milliken. This project was made possible thanks to a grant from the Xcel Renewable Energy Trust donor-advised fund through the Denver Foundation, rebates from Xcel Energy, private donations and loans.

The Dove Valley project showcases the economic, environmental and social advantages of installing renewable energy generating equipment on affordable housing complexes in Northern Colorado.
